Wendover, Halton and Stoke Mandeville Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that the HS2 planning application to use South Street and Dobbins Lane as a construction route has been refused.

Seb Berry, Lib Dem candidate for Wendover, Halton and Stoke Mandeville, said: "This is a really great result for Wendover residents. HS2 representatives at last week's meeting were unprepared and evasive, and couldn't answer the many obvious questions about alternative access routes and important National Landscape issues. It's no surprise that councillors threw out the application."

He added: "This brilliant result is also down to the extremely hard work, over many months, by Wendover Parish Council, the Wendover HS2 Mitigation Action Group, and the Dobbins Lane Residents Group. The truth is, this proposal should never have reached the formal planning application phase. Serious questions need to be asked about why Buckinghamshire councillors and officers didn't steer HS2 away from using South Street and Dobbins Lane as the access route when it was first proposed in early 2024."
