Liberal Democrats ahead of Labour in Euro Poll

Sharon Bowles and Catherine Bearder won the Lib Dems' two European Parliament seats in the South East, as the Liberal Democrats finished ahead of Labour in the June 4th Euro Poll..

Lib Dem MEP Sharon Bowles said: "If you want to come out of Europe that's something for Westminster.

"By electing UKIP people you're sending cricketers out to a football match and it really doesn't make sense."

lLabour was beaten into fifth place behind the Greens in the European election in the South East but has managed to hold on to its one seat.

The party trailed behind the Conservatives, UK Independence Party (UKIP), Liberal Democrats and the Green Party with 192,592 votes, a 8.2% share.

The Tories returned four MEPs polling 812,288 votes.
